MY APPROACH

Therapy is a space to feel safe to share, to allow your feelings to be heard and understood.

In psychotherapy, I work collaboratively with You to identify triggers for negative feelings and source distressing patterns in functioning, with the overall goal of developing a better understanding of self, as well as coping skills, to best handle stressful situations. I will use various treatment modalities depending on the goals of the client, including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Relational Psychotherapy.

As a therapist who integrates a relational approach into my therapeutic work, I will offer you a unique opportunity to face the relational forces that have shaped you. We will hope for new meanings to emerge, a new understanding that makes better sense of your experiences, and a new way of being in a relationship together. You will hope, ultimately, that this will all lead to significant changes in how you can experience the world. You will have the opportunity to find your own lost self in our here-and-now experience because this time around, we will both pay attention to it.

Neuroscience demonstrates that the creation of new neurons and neurological links continue throughout human entire lives. By understanding how these neurological links are affected, how they affect the body and mind, as a therapist I can better support my clients to rebuild and reconnect these links to achieve a healthier internal balance.

Questions of personal philosophy, spirituality and religion, culture and diversity, are crucially important and are always present in my mind. Therapy does not take place in a closed container. The social context will inevitably affect the way in which we work in the sessions and also the kinds of limitations and demands that we have to face both inside and outside the therapy room.

I have a special interest in: anxiety, bereavement, depression, existential issues, relationships, stress, trauma, abuse, cultural and political issues, personality disorders.
